Nobody...

...should be "Time's" man, woman, person, or sentient-being of the year for 2009. The magazine's editors choose Ben Bernanke, Chairman of the Fed. He, apparently, saved the nation from a depression--instead we have a recession, with a slow recovery, and 10% unemployment. And who was Chairman of the Fed when all fell apart? Hmmm...

All in all, readers, it was a lousy choice from a bunch of lousy choices. A more honest choice would have no one, and instead publish an issue about solutions for 2010 and the next decade.

Still, if pressed, I would have choosen all of the US Military...for most of this decade they've been under pressure while we re-financed our homes, and then had to deal with consequences. When you cut through all the media hype about the military, they still do their jobs and it's still damn dangerous. If Time Magazine would have just spent some ink on that, then I might feel less cynical.

Or not. I don't know. I have my doubts. "Someone of the Year" seems to be out of place for 2009. We all seem to be angrilly waiting for a fix from a series of personal and national dysfunctions. Economy. Terrorism. Health Care. Ideology. Cultural Choices. Need we really define ourselves by this? Are we immoral to let the person next to us have their life, with their choices. Must we complain about the other's situation?

We look forward to seeing all upon this day of Honor!

The Dentist...

...was this morning, to reglue and unstuck cap. Pretty easy. No pain. I have a cleaning this friday.

Tradition was kept as I watched "A Charle Brown Christmas" last night. ABC doesn't seem to have cut the show too much. The Jazz was great. We then watched the rest of NCIS, and I went to bed. I'm tired, and the cold seems to have settled in for a while.

I also spent a lot of time last night going through boxes of stuff. I have more xeroxes than I thought, so ring-binders are welcome. The next step in the library is organization, and then I might be able to get back to work. Well, that's the plan, at least.

Stuff 'an 'at.

Well. Lots going on. Let's see if we can get through some of it.

First, I'm not done with the whole "society interaction" thought-thread I started. I am, however, having difficulty in making things publically consumable. In case it's not obvious, this is something that sets off the White Knight in me in a big way. I will continue later.

Monday, Monday...

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
...was long and odd. Many folks were late for work, a fire alarm went off (ick), a tooth-cap came unglued while eating lunch, the cold I'm fighting off was in my throat, and I had an appointment with my shrink in the evening. I didn't get home until 8:45, or there abouts. I was exhausted. I ate. Took appropriate cold medicine stuff, and went to bed. I don't even remember what the hell was on TV. Bleech.

And this morning, we had another fire alarm here at the OZ municipal salt work and bibliotec. If this happens tomorrow, I want coffee service, or at least snacks.

Of course tomorrow, I visit the dentist to have my cap re-glued. Ick.

Tonight will be fore watching "A Charlie Brown Christmas" (I'm told ABC is going to re-run it), sorting books, and possibly trying to relax.

All in all, I could use a little less surrealism.

This speaks for itself

You are such a disappointing pair.

I prayed so hard for you. It saddens and hurts me that the two young boys whom I taught to believe in the Ten Commandments have come back to me as two thieves, with filthy mouths and bad attitudes.

Get out... And don't come back until you've redeemed yourselves...

Henry V, Act I, Sc 1 )
This last Saturday was do things day...got groceries, shevling unit, visited Pearl (an art supply store), and made 2 trips to the storage place. I napped.

Sunday it rained...a nasty, cold rain that made you thankful for hot cocoa and a sweater. I spent my time putting up shelves and then putting stuff on the shelves. I napped again.

This morning was, well, strange. Folks were late, and I forgot to bring coffee filters. Also, we had a fire alarm, which makes all leave the building.
